When I started college I thought I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I went into college thinking I was going to become a nurse. That definitely was not going to happen after I took A&P and didn't do great in it. I knew that I was loosing faith in my ability to be a nurse and that was okay with me because I had so much faith in my ability to be a teacher that I changed my majors. Ever since I changed my majors I have loved my classes, no matter how hard they got or how much work was piled on top of each other I have not once regretted changing my majors. After being on the Deans honor roll for 3 semesters in a roll I knew I had found the career I was meant to be in. So I went ahead with my classes and did my sophomore experience, which is something Missouri Western calls student observation, and I immediately fell in love with being in the classroom. My

Student Observation was in a Middle School and some of my old High School teachers have told me that if you teach in a Middle School and love it your heart will stay in the Middle school. I have had the pleasure of experienceing Middle and High School teaching environments and I truly cannot decide which one I like more. I have found that when you put your whole heart into something, it truly pays off. Anytime I am in my teaching Strategies class and we are learning the different teaching methods and pedagogies we are all asking so many questions and making sure that we have the lesson down before our teacher has us demonstrate it in front of the class. I love getting into my teaching strategies classes and being able to produce lesson plans that I am able to teach to the class and fully love teaching. English Education was 100% the correct choice for me.

I now have a litttle over a year left before I graduate with my degree and I decided to add 3 minors to it. So now when people ask me what i'm going to school for I beam with excitement as I tell them that I'm majoring in English Education with a Minor in Literature, English Studies, and Poetry. It's safe to say that no matter what happens in the future I want to be in a career that deals with English.

Throughout my journey of being an English Education major I have made so many amazing friendships and they are always there for me. We can study together and complain about the same things to each other. We can laugh, cry, and share the joy we have for writing lesson plans together. They have become some of my biggest supporters throughout my time at Missouri Western State University. I cannot wait to see what happens after we graduate and begin teaching. These wonderful friends of mine will 100% be in my life for a long time.
